Free Summer Learning and Creative Programs at San Antonio Libraries

San Antonio’s classrooms, university programs and public services offer examples of what students can learn, question and build. This story highlights one recent development and ways to explore it further.

The city described free programs across library locations, including creative activities and hands-on discovery for children and families. High school students were invited to participate in teen-led experiences spanning music production, technology, books, art and games. Programming and schedules varied by branch.

A library is more than a place to borrow books. It can give students access to tools, experiences and people they might not otherwise encounter. Youth-led programming also offers an opportunity to organize activities and practice public speaking or teamwork.

A question worth asking: Could you teach a friend or younger student one skill in a short, free workshop? What materials would you need?
